My favourite author will and have to be Ronald Dahl. I have to agree that it is a rather immature choice of mine, however, his books are those that I could relate with the most, and that is what, I feel, is the most important aspect of a book. There are a few interesting thing facts about this amazing author that I am about to share with you.
First and foremost, he wrote his first book during world war two about his airplane crash. That book was the only book he wrote and most of his books are written after the war.
Secondly, after getting married, they had 5 children, however bad luck soon befell on him. Olivia, one of his children died of measles. Soon the couple broke up after a turbulent marriage.
Next, he continued persuing a career in writing. One of a book review he wrote actually stated his hatred of Jews and Israel and gained disapproval from the Jewish community. However, he soon tried to amend the gap between the Jews and himself.
Also, he set up a Partners in Health, a non profit charity organisation, showing his dedication to helping out the poor.
Last but not least, he died of a rare blood disease in his home. He was given a viking-like sent off.
What an amazing journey of a writer who has both ups and downs in his life! He had, has and will be my favourite writer for his impeccable ability to relate his stories to readers.
